The forced celebrations.
Skyrocketed electric bills.
Materialistic wish lists.
Merciless death of pine trees.
Cold for the homeless.
False hopes of a white-beard Santa.
Children taught only to receive.
Greed. greed. greed.
If Christmases would always be like this,
I'd only have one dire wish. It's
for the season to be over. With all
these artificial ideals.
If only get-togethers are heartfelt,
thoughtfulness more appreciated,
good deeds clandestine and for His eyes only,
unwealthy are given equal opportunity.
Respect among contrasting beliefs,
shelter for the homeless,
love prevailing every home,
neighbors treat each other as their own.
Loud firecrackers silenced,
wars forever ceased,
a gift of hope to the weary,
sincere prayers to the needy.
Gratitude to the year that was,
forgiveness and a brand new start,
remembering the reason for the season;
How I'd wish for it all year round!
